After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in business economics and emphasis in accounting, Jen worked for a large accounting firm in downtown Los Angeles. There, she pursued her certified public accountant designation and officially obtained her CPA license in 1994.
Jen left public accounting for the corporate finance world, helping a public company relocate its headquarters from Florida to California. But before long, an exciting new venture materialized. Jen helped launch a successful software company as its CFO, building accounting, finance, and human resources departments from the ground up. Passionate about working with people and helping small business owners, Jen began studying personal financial planning at UCLA and passed her Certified Financial Planner™ exam in 2007. In 2008, she founded Canyon Oak Financial where she remains an active financial advisor, blending her real-world experience, tax and accounting knowledge, and broader financial planning skills to benefit the firm’s clients.
Jen is a Southern California native, professional sports enthusiast (Go Dodgers!), runner, reader, and wine connoisseur. She’s passionate about community involvement and continuing education – always challenging herself to learn new skills and share her knowledge with the people around her. Originally from Topanga Canyon, Jen currently lives in Woodland Hills with her husband where they raised their three boys.
