Laura Welles Adell is an attorney specializing in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. She is dedicated to her clients and prides herself on delivering personalized service and one-on-one attention. In addition to being the sister of Canyon Oak Financial’s owner, Jennifer deSpain, Laura is an accomplished legal professional and collaborative partner for Canyon Oak clients.
Laura prepares revocable living trusts, wills, and durable powers of attorney for health care and asset management. She works closely with clients to tailor documents to their needs, so they can rest assured their health, estate, and loved ones will be properly cared for.
Laura also represents trustees and administrators. Administering a trust or estate can feel overwhelming, especially after having suffered the death of a loved one. Laura is both professional and compassionate, helping her clients navigate personal and fiduciary challenges of trust and estate administration. In matters where there is a third-party fiduciary, Laura helps beneficiaries protect their respective interests.
Before forming Adell Law Offices in 2003, Laura had the distinct privilege of working as a law clerk to the Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew on the United States District Court. Following her clerkship, Laura worked as an Associate in a top-ranked Los Angeles law firm, handling high-profile corporate litigation matters in copyright infringement, breach of contract, pharmaceutical product liability, and hazardous waste cleanup (CERCLA). While she enjoyed the challenges of corporate litigation, Laura longed to build a rewarding practice where she could work with her clients on a more personal level.
Laura graduated magna cum laude (top 5%) from Southwestern University School of Law in 1997, and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. In her free time, Laura enjoys hiking, running, skiing, golfing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
